Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is an acclaimed Indian actor, known for her role in the films Beta Saajan as well as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! She began her career in the late 1980s, and rose to prominence with her performance in the Tezaab film, in which she appeared alongside the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Then she appeared in the movie Dil in which she shared the screen with Aamir Khan. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she started learning dance at an early age. At the age of 15 when she began to act, she struggled as many of her movies were unsuccessful. Eventually, she found success with Indian filmmaking and rose to the top. The actress took a hiatus from her profession after her wedding before returning to the entertainment industry. Recently, she was one of the main characters in Gulaab Gang about Indian women. Dixit was nominated fifteen times for Filmfare Awards. She won eight of these. Padma Shri was awarded to her, which is the fourth most prestigious civil award in India. She is also recognized for her charity work.
